Michelle Fogle
Michelle is an historical fiction author. Her debut novel City of Liars was published in 2021. Set in the heart of 15th Century Barcelona, the story follows a pair of star-crossed lovers who launch an underground rescue mission to thwart the ruthless Spanish Inquisition. City of Liars was chosen by Publisher’s Weekly Booklife as an Editor’s Pick. It is the first in the Lost Tales of Sepharad series.
The sequel Heirs of the Tide was released in 2023, with the next generation of Déulocresca heirs taking the lead. The brothers join forces with a crew of Sephardic corsairs seeking revenge against the Inquisition and the Spanish royals. Their mission: to recover a marooned cache of family assets to free their father from a brutal crime lord. The final installment of the Lost Tales of Sepharad is expected to be released in late 2024.
Michelle’s newest fiction offering, Paris Bohemian, is a biographical historical novel based on the life of bohemian composer Erik Satie and his complex relationship with Claude Debussy. It spans the Belle Epoque to the Roaring ‘20s in Paris.
Michelle’s passion for writing began in grade school. Her first prize-winning poem was published at the age of eight, the same year she produced her first play. While her middle school classmates spent lunches and recess flirting and parading, she was holed up in the girls’ bathroom in a read-and-critique group.
Eventually, this led to numerous courses at the University of California, and finally to a Certificate in Novel Writing at San Diego Writers, Ink, under the tutelage of literary novelist T. Greenwood. She is a founding member of The Inkwells, which spawned in that Novel Certificate Program and has endured since 2016.
She currently lives in the Inland Northwest with her husband and feisty Wheaton terrier, Baxter.
